Identification (ID) Issues
In the past voting was very simple. Now there are new rules that make
it harder to vote. In many states you need to show a picture ID
to vote. Bring a picture ID just in case.
Recommendation
Bring two items:
- If you have ID, bring several forms of identification including a photo ID. Currently ID requirements are changing; they are required in some states but not in others. You may want to check your Secretary of State's website or contact your local Elections office to check on the ID requirements. Better to be safe than sorry!
- Bring your sample ballot - read it ahead of time and mark your choices on
the sample ballot. Missing your sample ballot? Contact your Elections office immediately
to ask for a copy.
Tip: Bring a video camera on election day to document any poll worker who asks you for unreasonable ID or challenges your eligibility to vote.
